A hernia is an abnormal exit of tissue or an organ, such as the bowel, through the wall of the cavity in which it normally resides.
 Most hernias are caused either due to congenital or different types of injuries and commonly involve the abdominal content including the intestine in most species including cattle, sheep, goats, horses, and donkeys.

 Hernias are classified based on anatomical location, cause, and the organ involved. The symptoms may include pain, discomfort, and swelling. Many types of hernia may happen in sheep, goats, and cattle but the most frequently noted type of hernia was a ventral and umbilical hernia.
 The hernia can be easily diagnosed by history, inspection, palpation, and radiography. There are several techniques to treat hernia, surgical, or non-surgical depending on the size and the type of hernia.
